Amazon has partnered with Adyen as a payment processor in Mexico to enhance transaction speed, reliability, and security in response to rising consumer expectations for convenience and payment flexibility in online shopping, DPL News reported.

With 16 years of experience in online payment innovation, Adyen leverages global transaction data to power machine learning tools that optimise the entire payment process. The partnership with Amazon Mexico is expected to improve customer satisfaction by streamlining transactions and reducing payment failures and chargebacks.

Fabricio Moreno, Country Manager of Adyen Mexico, said: ‘Since our arrival in the market, we’ve focused on delivering secure and efficient payment solutions. Optimising transaction acceptance and settlement is essential to meeting both business objectives and customer expectations.’

Recent findings from Adyen’s Retail Report highlight the growing importance of the payment experience in consumer decision-making. Over half (52%) of Mexican consumers said they would abandon a purchase if their preferred payment method was unavailable, while 68% believe that concerns about fraud reduce the appeal of shopping online.

‘At Amazon, we strive to offer our customers the best possible shopping experience. Adyen’s global payment capabilities and local expertise align with our customer-first approach,’ said Karen Pepper, Director of Payments at Amazon Mexico.

As digital commerce continues to grow in Mexico, both companies view payment optimisation as a key driver of business growth and improved customer engagement.

According to a Statista Consumer Insights survey, nearly 60% of adults in Mexico made at least one purchase on Amazon between October 2022 and September 2023. The same survey found that Amazon is the most preferred online store among Mexican consumers, with 64% of respondents favouring it over other platforms.

The e-commerce giant also plays an important role in supporting local entrepreneurship. More than 27,000 Mexican businesses currently sell through Amazon, offering over 5 million products. Of these, 20% export their products – mainly to the United States and Canada.

Adyen, a global payments technology company, is known for balancing international standards with local requirements. Its platform helps minimise transaction friction, improve authorisation rates, and enable a seamless checkout experience.
