Federal Express Corporation, the world’s largest express transportation company, has upgraded its FedEx® Delivery Manager International (FDMi) e-commerce solution. Now, package recipients in Saudi Arabia can receive delivery notifications via WhatsApp in both English and Arabic, MENAFN reported.
Customers awaiting inbound deliveries now receive a WhatsApp notification from FedEx as soon as their shipment is picked up. Using a META-verified business account, FedEx helps clients reduce online risks, including scams that misuse the FedEx brand on WhatsApp. Recipients can communicate directly with FedEx in their preferred language, access tracking status, and manage delivery options with a simple click within the WhatsApp chat window.
The integration of WhatsApp into FDMi brings significant advantages to everyone involved in the e-commerce ecosystem. In a highly competitive online marketplace, FDMi enables retailers, particularly SMEs, to offer a unique and differentiated service. Customers gain greater peace of mind with the ability to track their packages on their mobile devices, enhancing their overall online shopping experience. Additionally, it helps FedEx reduce the number of delivery attempts to recipients who might not be available at the designated delivery address.
“The FDMi service enhancement facilitates interactive communication for package recipients, providing them with updates from pickup to delivery. This enhancement underscores our continuous efforts to streamline and simplify the last-mile delivery process, ensuring convenience for consumers,” said Abdulrahman Al-Mubarak, managing director of FedEx Middle East operations.
FDMi is an interactive e-commerce delivery solution that offers customizable delivery options and notifications. E-tailers utilizing this platform can provide their customers with the flexibility to select the timing and location of their deliveries to suit their schedules, and even change the delivery address while the shipment is in transit — all at no additional cost.
WhatsApp, with over 2 billion active monthly users worldwide and more than 22 million users in the Kingdom, is one of the most popular communication apps in the country. Integrating WhatsApp into FDMi increases its effectiveness as a solution for e-tailers to offer their customers.
