India is poised to attract investments totalling $960 million in battery storage, electric mobility and green hydrogen during the upcoming India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2025, The Times of India reported.
The event, organised by the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), will take place from 8 to10 July in New Delhi. It is expected to bring together global industry leaders, policymakers and innovators, with the aim of accelerating India’s clean energy manufacturing ambitions.
According to the IESA, IESW 2025 will see participation by over 1,000 companies and 150 exhibitors, ranging from multinational cleantech firms to Indian startups. International delegates from Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States are also expected to attend. Several central ministries, alongside state partners from Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Odisha and Telangana, are supporting the initiative.
The agenda will include sessions focused on international partnerships, business deals and the signing of memoranda of understanding aimed at scaling up cleantech infrastructure and production across India.
‘This year’s edition of India Energy Storage Week is poised to be a milestone for the sector’, said Vinayak Walimbe, Managing Director at Customized Energy Solutions, a partner organisation. ‘We expect a significant surge in investment, particularly in energy storage technologies and electric mobility solutions that will form the backbone of India’s energy transition.’
Debmalya Sen, President of the IESA, added: ‘The convergence of global innovation and foreign investment at IESW 2025 will help unlock new opportunities, not just for India’s manufacturers but for the entire value chain – from raw materials to advanced technology solutions.’
Investments will target fast-growing sectors such as lithium-ion battery production, EV charging networks, renewable energy integration and green hydrogen technologies. These initiatives align with India’s broader strategy to boost domestic cleantech capabilities and reduce reliance on imports.
According to IESA projections, battery and mobility tech startups in India could receive up to $500 million in funding over the next 12 months. Government data from 2023 shows that more than 6,600 cleantech startups operate across 450 districts in India, underscoring the scale of innovation already underway.
IESW 2025 is set to play a pivotal role in attracting new capital, advancing clean energy partnerships and supporting India’s long-term goal of becoming a global leader in sustainable manufacturing.
