Standard Chartered Plc’s venture-building arm, SC Ventures, has formed a partnership with Fujitsu Ltd to accelerate work in quantum computing, Bloomberg reported.

The initiative, known as Project Quanta, will give corporate clients access to a platform. On the platform they can explore and develop quantum and quantum-inspired applications.

According to a joint statement released on Thursday, the platform will feature ready-to-use algorithms designed for practical cases. These include fraud detection tools, advanced risk simulations and models for derivative pricing. Ultimately, areas where traditional computing power often falls short.

The project aims to make quantum resources and talent more accessible. At the same time, it aims to reduce barriers for companies that want to experiment with the technology.

Apurv Suri, client engagement and partnerships lead at SC Ventures, said the collaboration with Fujitsu would help bring quantum technology closer to mainstream adoption.

‘By joining forces with Fujitsu, we want to unlock quantum resources and talent on one platform for corporates looking to scale their quantum capabilities,’ he noted.

Quantum computing has attracted growing interest worldwide. Technology companies have led most breakthroughs so far, racing to develop systems capable of solving complex problems at speeds far beyond classical machines.

Now financial institutions are increasingly joining the field, hoping to apply these advances to real-world challenges. Major players such as JPMorgan Chase and HSBC have already invested in similar efforts.

Industry analysts also predict rapid growth. McKinsey & Co. estimates that quantum computing revenues could rise to $72 billion within a decade, compared with about $4 billion last year.

If realised, that growth would mark a dramatic expansion in both commercial opportunities and the range of industries able to benefit from quantum solutions.
