Egypt has racked up at least $20 billion worth of plans for investment in green hydrogen and ammonia projects to be operational by 2035.

Stillstrom – which means “quiet power” in Danish – aims to tackle both carbon emissions and noise pollution in one fell swoop. Most large ships waste fuel at sea by keeping their engines running while waiting for an available berth at port. This is necessary in order to power the electricity generators on board.
Hydrogen, is desirable as a clean-burning fuel. It is currently mainly produced using water and natural gas or even coal. Yet there are processes to create “green” hydrogen using electricity, including from renewables. The industry is exploring these possibilities.
