The South Korean bakery–café chain Tous les Jours plans to make its comeback in Malaysia in 2025 through a collaboration with the retail and e-commerce company Stream Empire Holdings (SEH), The Star reported.

The café’s parent company, CJ Foodville, announced plans to leverage its successful Tous les Jours operations and supply chain in neighbouring Indonesia to support its expansion into Malaysia. The company views Malaysia as a strategic hub for further growth across Southeast Asia.

The partnership’s first store is set to launch in the second quarter of 2025 at Sunway Pyramid Mall, followed by a second location at Sunway Velocity Mall.

SEH Food’s general manager, Ho Soo Ling, said the company is close to securing the location for its third store and is sourcing locations for its fourth and fifth stores.

‘We plan to establish Tous les Jours as a healthy and fresh premium bakery brand in Malaysia and accelerate our expansion into Southeast Asia’, said a CJ Foodville spokesperson, commenting on the deal. ‘We will create strong synergy effects by utilising our successful business foundation in Indonesia and the infrastructure of our local partner in Malaysia.’.

Tous les Jours established its presence in Indonesia in 2011 and further strengthened its operations by opening a halal-certified production facility in 2019. By 2023, the brand was operating over 70 outlets across the country, achieving 20% year-on-year sales growth and a 27% increase in operating profit.

Founded in South Korea in 1997, Tous les Jours operates over 1,750 stores worldwide, with more than 1,300 in its home market. The bakery–café chain first entered Malaysia in June 2013, with a store in Kuala Lumpur, but exited the market in 2017, closing all four of its outlets.

In addition to South Korea and Indonesia, Tous les Jours’ East Asia presence includes stores in Cambodia, China, Mongolia, Singapore, and Vietnam.

The Kuala Lumpur–based Stream Empire Holdings manages around 200 retail stores across Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, and Thailand. While its portfolio consists primarily of sporting and fitness fashion brands, the company has been expanding into convenience stores since 2021. Tous les Jours marks Stream Empire Holdings’ first licensed café brand.
