Tech Mahindra (TechM), one of India’s leading IT services providers, has launched a new development centre in its Bengaluru office through a collaboration with Universal Scientific Industrial (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (USI), a global leader in electronic design and manufacturing of computer storage devices, the Economic Times reported.
The collaboration aims to drive innovation in smart device engineering, deliver scalable solutions, and reduce time-to-market for new products. This development centre represents a key milestone, as USI extends its engineering footprint to India. It provides a robust platform for advancing device software development, hardware design, and testing, while fostering technological progress in the region.
Additionally, the centre will offer a wide range of services, including modem software development, Android telephony, middleware, board support package (BSP) creation, device driver engineering, and advanced hardware and printed circuit board (PCB) design.
‘We are delighted to collaborate with USI to launch a first-of-its-kind engineering development centre. This underscores our commitment to driving innovation through specialised engineering services. We are positive that this collaboration will pave the way for device software and hardware design advancements, ultimately setting the stage for future partnerships,’ said Narasimham RV, President – Engineering Services, Tech Mahindra.
John Fang, USI CTO, added: ‘The establishment of our offshore development centre with Tech Mahindra marks a significant milestone in extending the capabilities of USI’s R&D efforts. By leveraging Tech Mahindra’s specialised talent pool and deep expertise in the telecom and automotive sectors, we are well-positioned to enhance both the speed and quality of our innovations.
‘This partnership will provide us with the scalability and flexibility needed to accelerate our time to market and meet the evolving demands of our customers. We are excited about the collaboration with Tech Mahindra and look forward to achieving new heights together.’
Tech Mahindra’s advanced labs and talent focus on connected devices, additive manufacturing, AR/VR, and connected vehicles. USI will leverage this expertise for scalability, faster product launches, and specialised skills. USI’s first development centre in India will act as a model for leveraging the country’s engineering expertise to accelerate product innovation and reduce time-to-market for global enterprises.
